Islamabad police on Sunday recovered six Kalashnikov rifles, magazines, alcohol and tear gas shells from PTI leader Amin Gandapur's car outside Bani Gala.
The car was stopped at a checkpost and searched. The car was impounded, while Gandapur absconded and his driver was detained by police, DawnNews reported.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Minister Amin Gandapur rejected police claims, saying he was travelling with licensed weapons and that there was a license present in the car.
He alleged that he only had two Kalashnikovs. The PTI leader claimed the police let him go.
Police also arrested over 70 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) protesters trying to reach party chief Imran Khan's Bani Gala residence in Islamabad's Rukhsana Bangash Road area, DawnNews reported.
