Trump beats Hillary in honesty

Trump beats Hillary in honesty

WASHINGTON: Believe it or not but Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is considered more honest by the American public than Hillary Clinton, a recent national poll has shown.
In past surveys, both candidates have been declared equally dishonest by majority of respondents but just a few days before election Mrs Clinton seems to be beating Trump in this area.
The latest survey by ABC News/The Washington Post not only shows that Trump is slightly ahead with 46%-45% lead over Mrs Clinton but also the conservative candidate has an eight-point edge over his rival on honesty.
Just a week ago, political pundits were ruling out chances of Trump victory after revelation of his immoral conduct with a number of women, but just as elections are days ahead, he has apparently turned the table after the FBI's announcement that it may examine additional emails linked to Mrs Clinton’s use of private server for official communication.
According to the survey, 59% majority of likely voters disapprove of Clinton's handling of questions about her use of personal email as secretary of state.
Trump has an eight-point advantage over Clinton on which candidate is more honest and trustworthy, leading 46 to 38% among likely voters. The two candidates were tied on this measure the last time a similar poll asked the question in September; when asked individually, past polls found majorities seeing each candidate as dishonest.
The results underscore the decidedly mixed evidence that the FBI's announcement has damaged her campaign. Clinton holds a one-point edge over Trump (48 percent to 47 percent) when third party supporters are asked to choose between the major-party candidates.
Political experts still believe that it may be too early to predict a winner. Clinton still leads Trump in the CNN Poll of Polls, an average of the five most recent national phone polls, including Tuesday's ABC/WaPo tracking survey, 46%-42%.
The latest ABC/Post poll showed a lack of enthusiasm among Clinton supporters. Only 45% of the Democratic nominee's backers say they are very enthusiastic about supporting her, down 7 percentage points since the start of the tracking poll and eight points lower than the share of Trump supporters who say they are very enthusiastic about supporting their candidate.
The survey shows that 67% of independents disapprove of Clinton's handling of questions on the email issue and even 29% of Democrats give her negative marks for the way she's addressed the email issue.
Among Democrats, the share saying Clinton is more honest than Trump has dipped from 86% in early September to 76%. The Washington Post-ABC News Tracking Poll was conducted by telephone October 28-31 among a random national sample of 1,773 adults including landline and cell phone respondents.
