A case has been filed against an official of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) stationed at the Pakistan Embassy in Kuwait over the charges of embezzling funds of the state institution.
The interior ministry on Thursday directed the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) to take action against Nadra official Adnan Akram who was allegedly involved in embezzling Rs8.2 million during 2010 to 2012.
A case against the accused Adnan Akram has been registered by the FIA and a team has been dispatched to Kuwait to arrest the accused.
Akram, who was performing duties at the Nadra office at Pakistan Embassy in Kuwait, has gone into hiding after the accusations were revealed.
His visa has been cancelled and passport taken into custody by the Pakistan Embassy in Kuwait.
Last month, Nadra in a document submitted before the Senate committee said as many as 765 employees of the authority had been removed while another 856 were being grilled in fake identity cards case.
